Assistant to the Benevolence Program Manager

As an assistant in the Benevolence Program you will be help to receive, keep track of and control influx of non-financial donations (clothes, appliances, furniture, etc.) as well as ensuring that they are properly handled and efficiently allocated to families. You will also be in direct contact with non-LP personnel and agencies that provide alternative support for food, accommodation and other immediate needs. The Assistant to the Benevolence Program Manager should work closely with the Benevolence Program Manager, benevolence team and beneficiary facilitators ensuring that program goals and beneficiary’s individual needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setting up of the pop-up store on a monthly basis
  • Be available during the opening hours of the pop-up store to greet and assist beneficiaries
  • Assist the Donations Manager (DM)/ Benevolence Co-ordination (BC) with the upkeep and maintenance of the Social store ensuring it is presentable to beneficiaries who might visit
  • Sort new donations and display in the social store and update the inventory on a regular basis

Additional Responsibilities

  • Inform DM/BC if there is a shortage of items in particular areas
  • When appropriate, make appointments with beneficiaries to visit the social store
  • Assist the DM/BC with the collection of items from donors and delivery of donations to beneficiaries

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese (other language skills are valued)
  • Detail-oriented and efficient
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity
  • A valid driving license would be valuable
