Full CarePod Recruitment (for an English-speaking CarePod)

CarePods are an essential new part of the Lisbon Project’s approach to communicating with its refugee and migrant beneficiaries. The CarePod’s overall aim is to inform, support, encourage and – as is most important to us at the Lisbon Project – to create community.

Each CarePod team is made up of: 

  • 1 Pod Leader – coordinates overall CarePod engagement and activities 
  • 1 – 4 Facilitators – supports all communication in the group 
  • 1 – 2 Bridge Team Members – supports beneficiaries navigating Portuguese bureaucratic     processes, if needed 

The Lisbon Project is currently recruiting for a whole new English-speaking CarePod Team and we require applicants for each of the following positions: 

All CarePod roles

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining warm, professional and consistent relationships with CarePod volunteers and beneficiaries;  
  • Connecting beneficiaries to opportunities and support and ensuring they feel heard, respected and valued ;
  • Keeping beneficiaries engaged in CarePod communications and helping to organise gatherings and meetings where CarePod members can get to know each other.


  • Relational and friendly 
  • 6 month commitment 
  • 3 – 6 hours per week  
  • English-speaking  
  • Indian or other community languages highly desirable 

Pod Leader

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organising and facilitating monthly CarePod Volunteer meetings 
  • Assessing engagement, capacity and needs of the CarePod and updating Beneficiary Coordination Management  
  • Contributing to quarterly meetings with Beneficiary Coordination, Programme and Community Life Managers 


  • 6-10 hours per week  
  • Strong leadership, research and analytic skills  

Facilitators / CarePod Buddies  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating communication with CarePod beneficiaries, especially when language requires it.


  • English-speaking  
  • Indian or other community languages highly desirable 
  • Warm and friendly personality; enthusiasm for building community and relationship 

Bridge Team CarePod Buddies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remaining ready to assist CarePod beneficiaries if they request support navigating bureaucratic processes, including with: Segurança Social, Finanças, SEF, schools, Centros de Saude, hospitals etc.  
  • Updating the IT system, Aidhound, about any Bridge Team support provided within the pod 


  • Portuguese and English-speaking 
  • Strong mediation, translation and problem-solving skills  
  • Determination! 

N/B In accordance with the Lisbon Projects safeguarding policy, all applicants will be required to provide police check clearance from Portugal or their respective countries.


  • Supporting refugees and migrants in Lisbon within a warm and loving community 
  • Being an essential link in the LP community and gaining friends from all over the world! 
  • Free tea and coffee, regular community activities and occasional meals at the Lisbon Project, tasting cooking from all over the world! 

Volunteers Reports to : Welcome Committee and Pod Allocations Manager and Beneficiary Coordination Director.
