iConnect Teacher

The Lisbon Project is a non-profit organization that exists to protect and integrate the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. We are currently seeking a volunteer to teach our new iConnect course. Your primary responsibilities will be to teach the iConnect curriculum to up to 15 students, and to prepare the support material for each class. The goal will be to teach migrants and refugees computer literacy and provide ongoing computer access for online needs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow the syllabus for the 12 week iConnect course. 
  • Propose improvements to the lesson plan for each week. 
  • Conceptualise and create a framework for evaluation over the course duration.  
  • Create or source any necessary support materials. 
  • Mark, grade and give written/verbal feedback whenever appropriate.  
  • Inspire and motivate students to learn and practice the language.   
  • Ensure that students’ varying needs and interests are met.  
  • Ensure an adequate follow-up by filling out the attendance list. 
  • Maintain frequent and open communication with the Education team of the Lisbon Project.   
  • Provide a creative and dynamic class, using a range of media and resources (video, music, games). 
  • Grade evaluations and pass on feedback to program manager and students. 


  • Fluency in English. Other language skills are valued. 
  • Experience in teaching. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective listening. 
  • Responsible, reliable and committed person.  
  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions and backgrounds.

Volunteer Reports to: Iconnect Lead

Time Commitment: 3 hours a week. 3-6 months commitment
