iConnect Teaching Assistant 

The Lisbon Project is a non-profit organization that exists to protect and integrate the lives of migrants and refugees in the city of Lisbon. We are currently seeking a volunteer to assist our new iConnect course. Your primary responsibilities will be to make sure that the students are actually learning and are able to apply the theory received during the course. The goal of iConnect is to teach migrants and refugees computer literacy and provide ongoing computer access for online needs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate during the 12 weeks iConnect course as a tutor to solve practical questions related to the lessons. 
  • Create or source any necessary support materials that will help the students to incorporate the new knowledge taught during the class. 
  • Inspire and motivate students to learn and practice on the computer even after class.   
  • Ensure an adequate follow-up of students’ progress by preparing and animating practical sessions (specific workshops to review the content of the previous class). 
  • Help students with tasks or assignments during the course. 


  • Fluency in English. Other language skills are valued. 
  • Experience in teaching. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective listening. 
  • Responsible, reliable and committed person.  
  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions and backgrounds.

Volunteer Reports to: Iconnect Lead

Time Commitment: 3 hours a week. 3-6 months commitment
