Education is not a privilege, it is a fundamental right
At the Lisbon Project, we understand education to be a vehicle of change. We want to teach our children not what to think, but how to think. We want to provide everything they need to help make the world a better place for future generations. As the summer of 2020 unfolded, and the consequences of COVID-19 affected our community immensely, we began planning our annual Back to School campaign! This campaign aimed to raise €1200 in order to provide school supplies for 30 children.
Launched on the 18th of August 2020, the Back to School campaign achieved its financial goal and fulfilled its mission of providing school supplies to over 70 children! Together we were able to purchase new and quality supplies that will last students throughout the year. Not only were our kids given much needed items, relieving their parents of this financial responsibility, but new/trendy school supplies assist in the prevention of bullying and differentiation at school. We want to improve the overall educational experience of our migrant and refugee children. Hence the annual Back-to-School campaign is only the start of the ongoing support we provide to our LP kids throughout the school year!
We would like to thank CIC – Centro Internacional de Cultura for organizing a charity tea that was key in helping us reach our target and Vila Galé Hotels for hosting us in a beautiful ocean side setting!
