Better Together Coordinator

summary:


The Lisbon Project is set on building a community that empowers and integrates migrants and refugees. We value relationship building in all that we do, and the Community Life Department is the central focus on making this happen through events, social gatherings, and regular excursions. Better Together is a regular women’s meeting focused on discussions on identity, life in Portugal, and how to achieve their plans for the future, while doing different workshops and excursions that can empower these women. As the Better Together Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and attending bi-weekly women-only social gatherings. Your main goal will be to help create a community of women who can rely on one another and find friends among people from different cultures. You will also be tasked to manage all volunteers within the program.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead planning meetings with the volunteers and community members, brainstorming ideas for activities.

  • Plan and execute workshops and excursions for women

  • Ensure invitation is created with applicable details, and that it gets sent out to the community timeously.

  • Interview, train, and manage new volunteers.

  • Find partners or guest volunteers to conduct workshops for women.

  • Be available to attend all social gatherings or find a suitable replacement.

  • Be open and present to create meaningful relationships with the women and community members, motivating them to participate in the activities.

  • Ensure that good photos are taken and stored.

  • Register the attendance of all who participate in the excursions and record any feedback.

  • Lead evaluation and monitoring of activities.


Requirements:


  • Must be a woman.

  • Have some experience in working in groups.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening.

  • Must be organized, creative, and resourceful.

  • Must have the ability to solve problems creatively and flexibly as they arise.

  • Must be willing to work as part of a team, engaging personality, and take initiative.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from different cultures, genders, religions, and backgrounds.
