Connect Coordinator


Time Commitment: Appx. 20 hours, 4-5 days a week, minimum of 6-month commitment.

Reports to: Community Life Manager

The Lisbon Project aims to empower and integrate migrants and refugees through community-building efforts.

As the Connect Coordinator, you will play a vital role in welcoming new community members, planning events, and promoting diversity and inclusion.

This internship opportunity in the Community Life team offers diverse responsibilities in registration management, reporting, engagement, leadership, team building, communication, and event coordination, contributing to a positive community experience at LP.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Overseeing Registrations and Community Integraton:

  • Ensure smooth registration and referral process for Community Members, collecting necessary data on the Airtable database and providing support for their integration at the LP.

  • Be the first point of contact for Community Members, assisting them through WhatsApp or in person as they navigate LP services.

Communication and Emotional Support:

  • Respond to messages on the main LP phone, offering assurance and guidance to encourage Community Member engagement, while clarifying boundaries of LP support.

  • Keep all LP activities and opportunities updated on community platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and LP internal website.

  • Support communication channels, such as Website, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

  • Respond with care and sensitivity to communication from people in moments of emotional distress, while conveying LP support boundaries and managing expectations.

Event Coordination:

  • Organize and attend weekly Community Life activities to welcome new members and address queries in-person.

  • Oversee assigned activities to maximize participation and ensure participant satisfaction.

  • Establish close communication with community members and volunteers about Community Life activities.

  • Assist with daily set up and clean up.

Team Building and Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers.

  • Check in regularly with team leaders, providing support, appreciation, and feedbacks as needed.

Data and Reporting:

  • Assist the Community Life Department in quarterly and annual reporting.

  • Support the manager in supervising data outcomes.

  • Ensure accurate tracking of activities and attendances.

  • Contribute to regular reports for directors and make recommendations for program improvements.

  • Support with finance planning

Engagement:

  • Participate in regular team meetings to increase awareness of LP activities and processes.

  • Participate in team meetings and take notes regarding main agenda points and decisions made.

  • Energetic, creative, outgoing, and friendly.

  • Not afraid to take initiative.

  • Curious and possess great listening skills.

  • Be punctual

Language and Communication:

  • Fluent in English; other language skills valued.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to create and maintain positive relationships.

  • Experience in inter-cultural communication, conveying complex information effectively across cultural differences.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equal participation of team members.

  • Interest in working with migrants and refugees is desirable.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong will to lead, coordinate, and deliver effective programs.

  • Interest in event planning is favored.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
